Pastor Felix Malpica
Here are a couple of things that you should know about me...
I love music! Whether it's singing, dancing, playing instruments, recording, or listening to live music; music feeds my soul. I love food! Experimenting with new things to cook, cooking with friends, hosting dinners, trying new restaurants, and even watching food shows on TV; there is something sacred for me in every time we break bread. I love stories! Preaching, teaching, listening to podcasts, visiting with new friends, old friends, and even strangers; there is endless wonder in life's many twists and turns. Any chance that I get to share these things with my wife, Jessica, and son, Javier is a blessing and a joy.
For me, a life of faith is one spent daring to open our eyes and see our neighbors, our world, and ourselves through the lens of God's love.
Director of Operations - Vicki Trudell
With over 35 years in the hospitality industry, one thing I have learned is how to serve. And I currently love serving as the Director of Operations at Faith! I have lived and worked in many areas of the country, but coming to Faith was like coming home. I grew up in this church, we only lived two blocks away, and it has always been my home church. Working here allows me to use all of my talents. One minute I may be creating payroll, the next designing a bulletin, but every minute is doing something that I enjoy. I graduated from UW-Whitewater with an accounting degree and somehow ended up in the restaurant business...I think it has something to do with the fact that I love to eat (just like the pastor!)
I was married and widowed at an early age, but six years ago I met my husband, Rick and we celebrate each day that the Lord brought us together. We have a chocolate Labrador named Bronx, who definitely is a mommy's boy. I think I work just to keep him in dog treats. I love to read, cook, eat, decorate, eat (did I say that?) and shop! My family is precious to me and I try to spend as much time with them as possible.
I once received a plaque from my sister, it reads..."It's a rare person who can take care of business while also taking care of hearts" That's what I hope to do every day at Faith.
Minister of Music - Cherie Norquay
In 2013, I moved to Janesville to live near my first grandchild. Growing up in the small cow town of Juda, WI (yes, there were more cows than people), I went to Madison to study Music at the UW. My husband, John and I loved living in Madison, so we stayed there for many years. We plugged into a Madison church, and of course, I found myself involved in the music program...accompanying, directing and helping with large event programs. My life took a big turn however after going on a mission trip to Uganda. It was 2009 when I found myself asking God what He desired for my life. Shortly after returning home, I began to write songs. One thing led to another and that divine rabbit hole took me to Nashville where I have now recorded two albums with Grammy Award winning producer, Phil Naish. These days you will find me performing music, teaching vocal or piano students, teaching infant-preschool music classes, as well as leading worship at Faith. My biggest joy is to watch kids, my grandkids and other people's kids enjoy music as much as I do. If I am not at the piano, you will probably find me digging around in my garden or cooking large quantities of food for my family.
Parish Nurse - Mat Haeger, RN
My nursing career includes work with the Indian Health Service, Rock County Health Department, and School District of Janesville. I am currently retired and volunteering as parish nurse with Faith Lutheran Church. I am blessed to be married to Peggy Ekedahl-Lindquist. Our joined families include four adult children, their spouses, and seven grandchildren. My interests outside of nursing include; gardening, woodworking, and enjoying the outdoors.
Discipleship Coordinator - Tracy Schroeder
I love family and friends! I’ve been married to my husband, Brian, for 23 years. We have three wonderful sons—Austin, Ty, and Caden. We are beyond blessed with our growing family—Austin’s fiancé Valerie, Ty’s wife Grace and our 2 beloved granddaughters Morgan and Eliana. My family is my joy, so I’m sorry if you get trapped in a conversation about them with me! I truly believe no one can ever have too many friends. I think the more people you have in your life, the better!
I love to be creative whether it’s with food, paper or anything else I get my hands on. And much to the horror of my all-male family who has lived with me, glitter! I love all things sparkly and shiny. It has been brought to my attention that teen boys do not appreciate going to school with unexpected patches of glitter attached to them from passing by things in our home. Who knew?
My greatest passion is connecting people with opportunities that fulfill them and their lives. Ephesians 4:4-16 speaks to my heart and lights a fire in my soul!
